Lifting up the legacy of this phenomenal community.

Groundwork NRG and the Unified Government of Wyandotte County, KS - Storytelling + Engagement + Placemaking + Wayfinding Design

Meet the NE Kansas City, Kansas Heritage Trail, winding from Kaw Point–home to the Lewis, Clark, and York expedition–to the Quindaro Ruins, a former Underground Railroad site. As a part of the planning team, All Together wove together hundreds of stories from the community’s past and present to design and brand physical and digital memorializations, including wayfinding and public art, along this historic trail.

Twenty percent of the budget was used to compensate Community Ambassadors who helped spread the word on the ground, as well as local photographers and videographers to document the community’s stories. Engagement for the project included a series of porch conversations, monthly meetings with a community-led steering committee, online surveys, and seasonal interactive community events.

Meet the Birthplace of Cool.
